Now, if your relationship is suffering from serious problems such as abusive behavior or cheating, then a couples retreat probably isn’t going to help. In those cases, professional counseling is likely needed. However, if your relationship is just suffering from typical “too busy to act like a couple”, then read on.
In this list, I’m not focusing on places that call themselves marriage retreats, rather my criteria are vacation-like hotels & resorts either marketed specifically to couples or with adults-only areas. So let’s get to it.
Boardwalk Plaza Hotel – Rehoboth Beach, DE
If your destination is anywhere on the East Coast, there’s no better place than The Boardwalk Plaza Hotel. This 84-bedroom Victorian styled hotel is the perfect couple’s weekend away!
The Boardwalk Plaza Hotel is right on the boardwalk and boasts an adults-only concierge level, in-room couples massages, and 2 rooftop hot tubs. It also has an indoor/outdoor heated pool with spa jets.
In addition to amazing rooms and service, it’s also the home of one of Rehoboth’s finest restaurants, Victoria’s. Without even leaving the hotel, you can enjoy some of the best dining overlooking the ocean. Victoria’s has both indoor and outdoor dining areas that provide unobstructed views of the ocean.
Unlike most beach town hotels, The Boardwalk Plaza is open year round making it a popular destination even in the off-season. Their service is impeccable and their staff is second to none.
Magee Homestead – Saratoga, WY
If rustic luxury sounds more like your style, a stay at Magee Homestead might be exactly the couples retreat you and your partner need. The setting is straight out of the wild west but the amenities are world class including a luxury spa & wellness center and farm to table cuisine that rivals the world’s best.
You can stay in one of Magee’s 9 fully restored & updated cabins. Each cabin is luxurious while still maintaining an old-world feel.
In addition to the onsite niceties, the 30,000 acre ranch provides access to plenty of activities including fly fishing, horseback riding, a pool with private cabanas, yoga classes, and more.
The Westin Verasa – Napa, CA
It might seem odd that a Marriott-owned hotel might make this list, but there’s no doubt The Westin Verasa has earned it’s mention. Nestled on the Napa river, this resort provides amazing concierge service, dining, and an incredible jumping-off point to explore the Napa Valley.
The hotel has a beautiful salt water pool and 24-hour room service so those late night munchies don’t have to go unsatisfied.
For those health-conscious couples, the Westin Verasa has a 24-hour fitness center to get your workout on – assuming you didn’t get enough of one exploring all the activities around the Napa Valley.
LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort – Naples, Florida
On the blue waters of the Gulf coast, LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort is a beautiful setting for your romance. The 184-room resort features lagoon-style swimming pools in addition to an incredible beach.
Of course as its name implies, LaPlaya is an incredible place for those who like to golf. The course is one of the best, if not the best, in Florida and has relaxing scenic views throughout the play area.

Royal Hawaiian Resort Waikiki – Honolulu, HI
You know I couldn’t do a list of beautiful and romantic resorts without ending up in Hawaii! One of the most beautiful places in the world, Hawaii is also a prime honeymoon destination meaning it has a tremendous amount of hotels and couples retreats guaranteed spark some fire with your partner.
The Royal Hawaiian sits right on Waikiki Beach on the island of Oahu. It has two separate pools in addition to luxury beach services.
Another romantic feature provided by Royal Hawaiian is their Abhasa Spa, which regularly ranks in the top 5 best spas in America. Here, you can receive spa treatments such as massages & facials in an outdoor tropical garden.
