A detailed look at the orange Chakra, also known as Svadhishthana Chakra.

In continuation of my series on the Chakras, in this post I’m going to go over the details of the 2nd Chakra, also known as the Sacral or Svadhishthana Chakra.

About the Svadhishthana Chakra

This 2nd Chakra is vitally important to the human psyche. Creativity, desire, & sexual energy all radiate from this Chakra.

In addition, these energies all have a powerful effect on our ability to experience joy, pleasure and self-confidence.

The Sacral Chakra Location

The location of the 2nd Chakra varies depending on the specific system you subscribe to. In general it resides in the location of the pubic bone, with some systems focusing on the genital area.[1]

Symptoms of Imbalance in the Orange Chakra

When the Svadhishthana Chakra is not in balance, one’s ability to naturally experience pleasure & joy can be severely affected resulting in addictive behaviors. These behaviors include drug abuse (an easy source of pleasure) or hypersexual & promiscuous tendencies.

Other symptoms of imbalance can include a feeling of emotional disconnect with the world and people around you and jealousy due to low self-confidence.

It’s also important to note that the search for superficial sources of pleasure isn’t limited to drugs & alcohol. Gambling, shopping, and even eating can all be sources of easy pleasure – if you’re overindulging in such activities simply because they make you feel good, you may have an imbalance in the energies of your Orange Chakra.

Balancing the Orange Chakra

The Orange Chakra is closely linked to the Root Chakra and sometimes you must start there first and ensure your Root Chakra is balanced. Once you’re confident that your Root Chakra is healthy, only then can you move on to balancing and healing your Sacral Chakra.

Stones & Crystals

For those practitioners who believe in the healing power of stones & crystals, citrine is a good choice for helping to balance the energy.[2]

There are other good stones for healing the 2nd Chakra such as moonstone, and orange calcite. Citrine is by far my favorite, and it’s also ready available in most spiritual stores. It’s also relatively inexpensive.

Meditation

Meditation is a current theme in all Chakra healing practices. The Sacral Chakra’s primary element is water, so meditating with a focus on water and fluid will help.

You can make use of guided meditations for the healing and balancing of the Orange Chakra like the one below:

Foods & Diet

Eating orange colored foods can also help keep the Sacral Chakra balanced and energized. Foods such as oranges and carrots are excellent options. Sweet potatoes are great as well.

The Sacral Chakra: Conclusion

Due to it’s connection to self confidence and joy, the health of your Sacral Chakra is critical to your ability to have meaningful relationships and a satisfying career.

By taking time to focus on balancing the energy in the Orange Chakra, you’ll be well on your way to a much happier life.
